Progress in the Jungle

A rather silly title today, (nothing new there then...) However, the view out of the main bedroom window shows what things are like here in rainy season.

The covers to the filters and the water tanks are now done and partly in place.
A Geometry Lesson

The photo on the right is taken from the stairwell between the top two floors.

Shiny!

Two pics of the kitchen with its newly tiled surface. Daisy fortunately happened to be around when Hector was about to lay the draining board area and asked him to create a gentle slope towards the sink.

as sitting on a bench.

The downstairs bathroom is getting tidier too, in fact the builders seem to have set down a rule that you can't go in there with shoes on!

Daisy's got a new Blackberry

Our blackberry bush (stick?) gave us a fancy new blackberry. It didn't last very long though.

Passionfruit flowers are coming out along the street, and things are looking good from the top of the garden!

The shower is mostly tiled.

Homely!

The boudoir
Once again the boys have been busy: the upstairs floors are now finished as is the downstairs bedroom. At this rate it should only be a few days before they're all done.

Bugs

Hovering around the garden it's impressive how much insect life you see. We've not yet been very successful at capturing all the butterflies on camera but these wee beasts will do.

Azu! Lejos!

There has been a lot of tiling going on recently. The white ones are in the downstairs bathroom, which looks a bit like a public loo at the moment, (but will soon be looking smarter we hope).

The green tiles are in the upstairs bathroom and also in shot is Saúl laying some of the terracota tiles on the landing.

Moving on swiftly...

This post includes some of our favourite photos of the house so far. The mezzanine floor is finished apart from a lick of varnish, and the light in there is stunning.

The back bedroom is also lovely and light and the new floor makes it very welcoming. The builders haven't failed to impress us with the rate at which they've been working at recently!

Efficiency

Now that we're paying the builders for the work they do and not their time, things are moving on a little more quickly!

The wall around the water tank/veranda is looking smart.  The shower doesn't look quite so good yet, but it should do once the tiles go on.  And the wood going on the tapanco (mezzanine?) has made a very big difference!

If you go down to the woods today...

You'll definitely get a surprise!

Steve took me to see these rather other-wordly fungi in the woods behind the house yesterday.  It really looked like someone had spray-painted the tree fluorescent orange from a distance, and close up it was an even more spectacular show.

I love the contrast between the tree bark, the fungus and the delicate white flowers in this last one.
