We are now the proud owners of a usable set of stairs. Even in rough concrete they look nice, but once they get some wood or tiles on them, they should be very pleasant to look at.
Having stairs also means that we now have very easy access to the first floor... as does the dog who came to inspect the building work on Friday! In the dog photo you can also see the arch that leads from the kitchen/living room to the stairs and the bathroom and bedroom at the back of the house.
Looking down from upstairs, you can start to appreciate the size of the windows in the living room area. It's still an open space at the moment, but there will, eventually, be a wooden mezzanine covering around half of this space, as is shown in the original plans
